What a Wire Brush Machine Does

Wood grain is naturally uneven: earlywood is soft and porous, latewood is dense and hard. A wire brush machine exploits this difference. As the panel passes under rotating steel-wire brushes, the soft earlywood is abraded away while the hard latewood is left raised. The result is a tactile, three-dimensional wood grain — visible, textured and anti-slip — that looks like hand-scraped or distressed wood.

This is not sanding. Sanding smooths the surface. Wire brushing defines the grain. The two are often combined in production: sand the panel flat, then wire-brush it to bring out the texture.
