Dedicated Sander for PU, PE and UV Paint-Coated Panels in Production Lines
The 1300R-R Primer Sanding Machine is QUICKMO’s dedicated intercoat sander, purpose-built for sanding paint-coated panels — PU, PE and UV finished boards — between coats in automated finishing lines. Manufactured by Qingdao Kuaimo Technology Co., Ltd. in Qingdao, China, the 1300R-R Primer is not a general-purpose calibrating sander: it is engineered specifically to de-nib, level and prepare cured paint films without cutting through them, so the next coat adheres evenly and the final finish is smooth, defect-free and consistent.
Why Paint Lines Need a Dedicated Primer Sander
Sanding a cured paint film is not the same as sanding raw wood. On raw panels, the goal is aggressive stock removal and thickness calibration. On cured PU, PE or UV coats, the goal is the opposite: break the surface gloss, remove dust nibs and orange peel, create tooth for the next coat — without cutting through the film, scuffing unevenly or leaving swirl marks.
A general-purpose wide-belt sander does not do this well. Its hard calibrating rollers and aggressive belts can dig through soft cured paint, leave cross-grain scratches, or burn UV coatings. The 1300R-R Primer is built around the right tools for the job: soft sanding pads, flexible sanding shoes and controlled, low-pressure heads that abrade the paint film evenly without damaging it.
Built for Integration Into Finishing Lines
The 1300R-R Primer is designed to sit inline between coat application and curing. It connects directly with spray booths, UV curing ovens and conveyorized finishing lines:
- Inline operation. The machine accepts panels from the upstream conveyor, sanders them at line speed, and discharges them to the next station — no off-line handling.
- Compatible with any process. The 1300R-R can be used in conjunction with virtually any spray, roll-coat or UV line, regardless of manufacturer.
- Variable head count. The number of sanding heads can be selected according to the process requirement — two heads for light de-nibbing, three or four for more aggressive intercoat sanding on thicker builds.
This modularity means the machine grows with your finishing process: add heads later if you move to heavier film builds.
What It Sanding
The 1300R-R Primer is engineered for:
- PU-coated panels (polyurethane paint), de-nibbing between primer and topcoat.
- PE-coated panels (polyester paint), leveling cured filler and primer surfaces.
- UV-coated panels, sanding between UV coats and preparing UV-cured surfaces for subsequent layers.
- Paint-grade MDF, plywood and solid wood panels going through automated finishing lines.
- Cabinet doors, furniture components, flooring and wall panels that require a smooth, intercoat-prepared surface.
It is not a thickness-calibrating sander — use the 1300R-R calibrating model for that. This machine is for paint-film preparation.
Soft, Controlled, Even Abrasion
What sets the 1300R-R Primer apart is how it contacts the panel:
- Soft sanding pads and shoes, not hard steel rollers, conform to the paint film and distribute pressure evenly across the whole width.
- Controlled low pressure avoids cutting through thin cured coats, especially on UV surfaces that can burn if overheated.
- Variable-speed feed matches the sanding aggressiveness to the film — slow on delicate UV coats, faster on robust PU builds.
- Independent head control lets the operator set each station’s pressure and speed, so rough intercoat sanding can be followed by a lighter, final de-nib station.
The result is a uniformly dulled, scuffed paint surface — exactly what the next coat needs for adhesion — without through-cuts, swirls or uneven scratch depth.
Why Intercoat Sanding Matters
Skipping or shortcutting intercoat sanding is one of the most common causes of finishing-line rejects:
- Poor intercoat adhesion. Un-sanded cured paint is too smooth for the next coat to bite, leading to delamination and peeling over time.
- Dust nibs and orange peel. Without de-nibbing, every dust speck in the wet coat becomes a bump in the final finish.
- Uneven gloss. A surface that is not uniformly scuffed accepts the next coat unevenly, showing up as gloss variation on the finished panel.
The 1300R-R Primer removes these defects at line speed, in a controlled and repeatable way.
Built for Production Duty
The 1300R-R Primer uses the same welded-steel, vibration-dampening frame as QUICKMO’s production sanders. Pneumatic sanding arms are precision-guided, conveyor belts are balanced, and all major components come from reputable suppliers chosen for long service life. The machine is built to run inline, shift after shift, in a busy finishing department.
The HMI is straightforward: feed speed, head pressure and head speed are all digital. Abrasive changes are quick, and consumable sanding pads and belts are standard, easy-to-source items.
Who Is the 1300R-R Primer For?
The 1300R-R Primer is the right choice when:
- You run an automated PU, PE or UV finishing line and need intercoat sanding between coats.
- You are currently hand-sanding cured paint films and want to bring that process inline.
- You need a sander that de-nibs and scuffs paint surfaces without cutting through them.
- You want a machine that integrates with your existing spray/UV line, regardless of its manufacturer.
- You need flexibility in sanding head count as your process evolves.
Shops needing raw-panel thickness calibration should look at the 1300R-R calibrating sander or the WKXS double-side line; shops needing contour sanding on profiled parts should look at the GP1300 flexible series. For paint-film intercoat preparation, the 1300R-R Primer is the dedicated tool.
